Currie Fc in Barcelona - Match 1

A quick breakfast and off to the Mediterranean Sports Complex for day 1 of our inaugural tournament overseas.

Playing the opening match of the tournament v the hosts like many a Scotland team of the past, hoping we can perform better than Clarkes Cuddies in Munich.

CEF Bosc De Tosca lined up alongside our boys as they marched out on to the pitch behind the Spanish referee. High 5s all round and we’re ready to start.

Opening line up of Ferry, Tollins, Beattie, Robertson, Neill, Watson, D’Angelo.

Playing in their black away strip, the boys started well, attacking the ball and trying to get early control on a wet and bouncy pitch.

New rules for our lads such as the pass back rule and throw ins, a different challenge but the surprise of the rain made it a slippy affair for both teams.

Currie had the opening chances but the Spanish were quick and nipped in at every opportunity. Half time and 0-0 was not what we deserved, but second half and we took control.

Hanratty, White and Herd came off the bench to give fresh legs. D’Angelo broke the deadlock rounding the keeper to great cheers from the Scots high up on the terracing. A second and third followed from White and Tollins, and 3-0 was the final score. It could have and should have been more but a well deserved start to the tournament.
