Sad news

It is with the deepest sadness that Currie FC shares the untimely passing of our long-standing Chairman, Gerry Butler, yesterday in Portugal, where he was taking part in Walking Football.

Gerry was at the heart of our club for many years. His commitment, leadership, and passion for community football helped shape Currie FC into the welcoming, inclusive club it is today.

He gave so much of his time and energy to ensure that generations of young players had the opportunity to enjoy the game, develop their skills, and feel part of something special.

His impact on our club and our wider community will be felt for many years to come.

While there will be time to reflect on Gerry’s enormous contribution to football, today our thoughts are first and foremost with his family. We ask everyone to keep Gerry’s wife Lorna, his sons Scott and Fraser, Scott’s wife, and his two grandchildren—one of whom only arrived last week—in your thoughts at this incredibly difficult time.
